I'm uncomfortable installing a NIC card on my own, is there an option for someone to do this for me?

If you want to install the network card in your computer yourself, you may do so.

If you feel you need personal help, even more options exist. We have the ability to use a company that US West has contracted with to come to your house and install the card. The fee for this is $149.95 and it will be applied to your US West bill.

For an additional fee, you may bring your computer -- sometimes just your computer, not your monitor/keyboard or mouse (call first) -- into our offices and technicians here will install the network card and test it with a live DSL connection to ensure that everything works and that software is configured properly. Cost will be about $40 for this service.

As mentioned elsewhere, currently US West requires people to purchase the network card from the telco whether or not you already have one. We are negotiating with US West to remove that unnecessary expense.

However, there is nothing special about the network card that US West is providing. Any 10base-T ethernet adapter will work. If one is already installed in your computer you may use that.
