Great News! I located a bunch of M. herbertaxelrodi at Nautilus Fish in Longmont, Colorado. I just picked up 5 of them. They are very young right now, so their colors haven't developed at all. Once they grow out more, I'll pick out several to save for myself, and I'll be selling or trading the others.


75g Heavily Planted Rainbow tank

Equipment:
  • 240 watts of flourescent lighting, provided by 6 40w tubes.
  • CO2 injection using a 5lb CO2 tank, high pressure regulator, and Eheim CO2 diffusor.
  • Substrate is locally collected river gravel/sand, with a little flourite mixed in by accident!
  • Filtration is provided by a home-made wet/dry.
  • Heat provided by 2 Ebo Jager 250w submersibles, in the sump.

Water Parameters:
  • Temp: 77 degrees (f)
  • pH: 7.6 from the tap, 6.6 after CO2 injection
  • KH: 4.0 dKH
  • GH: 6.0 dGH
  • Nitrates: 0 with the AP Dry-tab high-range test, 5-10ppm with the Red Sea test.
  • Fertilizers: Daily addition of KNO3, Iron chelate, Zinc chelate.
