This collection comes from the archives of the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK) that includes nearly 50,000 catalog items of folk music, representing all areas of Norway Starting with early recordings from the 1930s, sixty years separate the oldest and newest recordings. The instruments featured in this collection include the Hardanger fiddle, regular fiddle, langeleik, accordion and different types of flutes. Both singing and the traditional Norwegian form of singing (kveding) can be found in most of the areas covered in this collection, including "joik" by the Same people living in northern Norway.
