Summer Events Enhance Church Services
- Church Camp Songs will be sung at services on August 15th. There won't be a campfire, but we will have lots
of warm feelings as we sing those songs we learned years ago at Church Camp.
- Wheat Ridge Congregational Church is famous for its potlucks! August 22 we will have a summer
potluck luncheon after worship, and there is nothing much better than good food and warm fellowship.
Bring a dish to share and join us.
- We will have Laity Sunday on August 29th. Chuck Parson will be our speaker and we know he will have
something interesting to say.
- Favorite hymns will be sung in church on September 5th. Now is the time to think about what you would
like included and let the office know. There will be a form in the Sunday bulletin that you can list your
selections on and turn in. Jerry Eslinger will be preaching that Sunday as David Conner will be on
vacation.
- Our Sunday School Kick-off will be held on September 12, and there will be a puppet show. It is always
fun to begin the new church year with a clever performance by our puppeteers! If you would like
to help out with Sunday School as a teacher, now is the time to let your Christian Education Chairperson,
Krista Swanson, know. There will be a Christian Education Board meeting after church on August 22nd to help
plan the coming year.
- Our summer program ends on the patio downstairs when we grill meats and vegetables after church. Come enjoy
a great barbecue and share in the excitement of the beginning of a new church year.

Friday Night Java and Jive
There will be three more Java and Jive Nights on August 13, September 10, and October 8 before we break for
the holidays. You really don't want to miss any of these evenings if you can help it. Beginning at 7 p.m. and
going until 9 p.m., entertainment by many different acts is the bill of fare. Vocal, instrumental
and artistic contributions are made by some very talented people. You might even know some of them
personally. There are coffees and drinks and many different snacks available. A $5 donation is
asked at the door. Come and have a great time with us. Everyone is welcome. Be sure and ask your
friends and neighbors to join you.
