"Think Summer, Think Church"

Again this summer, our Deacons are sponsoring "Think Summer, Think Church," a series of weekly special themes designed to maintain our interest in the church during the busy summer season. This year's calendar includes:

  • June 8, Salad Sunday
  • June 15, Father's Day
  • June 22, Shorts Sunday
  • June 29, Art Appreciation Sunday
  • July 6, Church Picnic at Morse Park
  • July 13, Social Justice Sunday. Program on Missions & Africa.
  • July 20, Ice Cream Social. You can bring homemade ice cream (optional).
  • July 27, Taize Music Service. (See article in Mouse by Deb Packard.)
  • August, Jazz Communion. Also, Bargain Sunday (leftovers from church rummage sale)
  • August 10, Pastoral Teaching Sunday, Potluck luncheon
  • August 17, Bless the Pets (Bring your critters)
  • August 24, Old Time Hymn Sing (Laity Sunday)
  • August 31, Labor Day Weekend

New Members Join

On June 15 we joyfully received new members into our church. They are Deb and Kendall Johnson and Deanna Carter. Their addresses and phone numbers have been published in the Mouse. Welcome, Deanna, Deb, and Kendall! Other persons have expressed interest in joining. If you would like to consider joining the church, please talk with Pastor Conner. 303-238-6271.

Pastor Leading Adult Class

A terrific group of almost twenty adults are currently engaged in a study of "progressive Christianity." The text is a book by Professor Delwin Brown. Pastor Conner is the teacher. The sessions meet every Sunday at 8:45 in the Boulevard Room, and will continue through the end of the summer.

Other Events

  • July 12, Deacons meet at 9:30, Trustees at 11:00
  • Due to summer vacation, the Youth Group will not meet at their regular time.
  • Pastor Conner will be on vacation, August 11 — August 24. However, David will remain in town and will still be available in case of illness or other urgent needs.

Vote By Mail

Our elected officials are urging us to vote by mail this year. The main reason is that the turn-out is expected to be the largest in history, and there will be very long lines at the polls on election day. Also, some of us still have doubts about the accuracy of electronic voting machines. To make sure that you receive a mail-in ballot, you can fill out a form requesting one and send it to your county clerk and recorder. The form also includes a page with the addresses of all Colorado county clerks. Click on this link to download and print the necessary form.

On-Going Activities

  • Children's Sunday School is in recess for the Summer.
  • Child-care is being provided during church as usual.
